The GGPoker WSOP Super Circuit ran from March 1 through March 31, 2026, with $180 million guaranteed across 18 gold ring events, and its centerpiece Main Event produced one of the more dramatic final table comebacks of the series.
The field and the payout
Alan “ContinUuUuUm” Goasdoue won the Main Event outright, according to reporting from poker.org, taking home $2,234,310 along with a WSOP Circuit gold ring, out of a total prize pool exceeding $17 million generated by 10,690 entries.
Seventh place to champion
What made the final table notable was where Goasdoue started it. He began final table play sitting seventh out of nine, well behind chip leader Daniel Vicente, a position most players in that spot do not recover from. Rather than folding into a min cash, Goasdoue worked steadily back up the counts, eliminating opponents including a player known as Ditto1031 in fifth place and L JAHA in fourth, closing the gap on Vicente heads up rather than simply outlasting the rest of the table.
The heads up finish
By the time the tournament reached heads up play, the stack picture had reversed entirely. Vicente, the overwhelming chip leader for most of the final table, was down to 31 big blinds, while Goasdoue had built up to 76. The tournament ended on a hand where Vicente’s ace six ran into Goasdoue’s ace ten, and a ten on the river sealed it. Vicente took home $1,722,308 for second, a massive score in its own right that ended up as a footnote next to Goasdoue’s turnaround.
Why this result stands out
Short stack comebacks at nine handed final tables are not unheard of, but doing it against a fully engaged chip leader in heads up play, rather than benefiting from other players busting around you, is a specifically different kind of run. A field of nearly 11,000 entries also means the variance involved in surviving to seventh at the final table at all, let alone climbing from there to first, reflects a genuinely deep and difficult tournament rather than a small field where any deep run is comparatively easier to produce.
